Nissan To Halt Production In Kyushu Japan Due To Covid-19

Nissan announced to temporarily halt production at its plant in Kyushu, Japan from February 14 as a result of parts shortage due to Corvid-19 outbreak. (WHO officially named Novel Coronavirus disease as Covid-19 today.) Nissan already closed several of its plants in China.

“Due to supply shortage of parts from China, Nissan Kyushu in Japan will carry out temporary production adjustments on February 14 and 17,” said a Nissan spokesperson.

According to the Japanese newspaper Nikkei, the stoppage could reduce production by 3000 vehicles. 30% of all of Japan’s auto parts are imported from China.

Nissan’s spokesperson said:”We are preparing to restart production in China at the earliest from February 17 at Huadu Plant and Dalian Plant.”
